There are a lot of distinctive customs in Germany when it comes to weddings. Some are a little strange, while others are entertaining. Prior to the wedding, the Germans hold a particular polterabend gathering. Stoneware and porcelain ( never glass ) are violently destroyed by the couple’s friends to ward off evil spirits on this night. Finally, the betrothed is in charge of removing every fragment.

The wedding napping during the reception is another odd German custom. The wife is forced to run from bar to table as the man tries to find her during the group because the groom’s friends “kidnap” her. Many more raucous and entertaining than how the wife is” flung” her bouquet after the service! In order to “rescue” his wife, the bridegroom is typically required to pay the kidnapper’s bar tabs.

On the large day, she brings a unique flower with her that includes blue sunflowers and heather trees for good fortune. On the way to the ceremony, friends are given slices of light ribbon to weave them to their auto antennas.

The Germans keep things simple, in contrast to many other states, where the bride and groom have massive groom or bridal events. One man, known as a trauzeuge for men and a trauzeugin for people, will be in charge of organizing the wedding activities as well as providing assistance on the day of the ceremony.
